You are what you eat

Happy birthday to my friend (and blog-reader) Mary! A true lover of the outdoors, the mountains, and climbing, she was surprised with this cake on her birthday. How appropriate!

The first of January...

...is my Dad's birthday! 

We celebrated with fondue, an annual tradition.

First course: emmenthaler and appenzeller in one; cheddar and crab in the other.

Second course: shrimp, beef, and vegetables in beef broth or vegetable broth.

 

Third course: chocolate! With strawberries, bananas, and pound cake to dip.

Yum! Needless to say I am full enough to not eat for a week!

Happy birthday Anna!

 Today is my roommate Anna's birthday. We made cupcakes for her because we love her, we love to bake, and everyone loves cupcakes!

We went with a theme of BRIGHT colors! We found neon food coloring and candles, and the world's cutest cupcake liners. Decorating them was super fun (we compared the frosting to taffy and Play Dough and putty). We even went for the cupcakes on cupcakes effect :)
